Fleury & Fleury at the
tekom Spring Conference 2008
(7-9 April, Friedrichshafen)

Standardisation versus creativity is the theme of this years German event for technical communication. Again we will be giving a presentation and look forward to your visit. Should you wish to meet us personally we would be delighted to arrange a meeting with you beforehand (Contact).

In cooperation with Prof. Dr. Klaus-Dirk Schmitz from the University of Applied Sciences Cologne as host, Dr. Rachel Herwartz from Term-Solutions and Cord Wischhoefer from Deutschen Institut für Normung (DIN) we will participate in the podium on standardised terminology. Frank Fleury will lecture on the interplay of both aspects in the terminology work. Apart from the lecture the podium also offers the opportunity for discussion.

Fri 4 April, 08.30 a.m., Ludwig-Dürr-Saal,
Podium Standardised Terminology (Lecturer: Frank Fleury)

Standardised Creativity in Terminology Management (in German Language)

Growing pressure from competition increasingly shifts creative thinking and acting making them the focal point of interest. As a contrast, standardisation promises quality improvement and cost reduction. Some recognise a threatening impoverishment of communication. This lecture points out the opportunities and dangers of both approaches in terminology work. It illustrates how creativity and standardisation are not incompatible opposites, and form supporting components of sensible company communication.
